Week in the Life :: Thursday/Friday

So I kind of fell off the taking pictures wagon. These two days were my busy days of the week though. Here's what I have...

Week in the Life :: Wednesday

[1] Wake up, cuddle with Brody, and get a little bit of reading in on the iphone. [2] Stack of books currently next to my bed. [3] He loves to hang out in bed. [4] A peek in my messy closet. [5] Tyson's dresser. [6] View from the hall. [7] Browsing online. [8] Piles of stuff that needs a home (still). [9] Getting ready to bake some of my favorite bread. [10] He lounges and hopes for me to drop something yummy. [11] Finished product--I didn't shape the loaf very well!

Not pictured: morning work out (cardio + lower body weights), lunch (more leftovers), dishes, ironing, dinner (homemade pizza + cheesy bread), small group

Week in the Life :: Tuesday

I only took a few pictures today...too busy having fun! Will do better today.

TUESDAY :: Tyson wakes up at 5:15am to go work out. I sleep until 7:15 and then cuddle with Brody while I have my "quiet time." I head to the gym at 8:45 for cardio (swimming) and then back for a shower. Watch Real Housewives reunion (it's my guilty addiction.) and snack on cheesy break (ok so I might have two guilty addictions) until Ashley comes over for our downtown Houston extravaganza. We check out Borders' closing sale (not impressed) and walk around a bit. Salads from Whole Foods on a bench outside--divine. I thought we could walk to Sprinkles, but I didn't realize it was a mile and a half away (at 1pm, can you say hot?!) so we end up driving. Drive over to get massages I got her for her birthday (back in May). My first massage: heavenly. Back to Katy to the mall to find a new suit (thank you Banana for 60% off!) and then home again for more Real Housewives and leftovers: more kalua pork, jambalaya (YUM), french fries, and Sprinkles cupcakes. So healthy. In bed around 10:30 to get up and do it all over again.

Week in the Life :: Monday

Hello! So if you read Ali Edwards' blog, you might know that she is currently doing her project Week in the Life, which is basically dedicated to capturing with words and photos the daily rhythms of your family. I wasn't planning on joining in, but while I was eating lunch, I suddenly felt impulsive and started snapping pictures. I don't have much for today, but I'm okay with that.

9am: morning workout with Ashley (cardio + a little weight lifting)
10:45: come home to find that I forgot to put away the marshmallows from last night's s'mores and Brody helped himself to the leftovers. Story of my life.
11am: Lots of dishes to do from last night.
 ...while Brody pouts.
12:15pm: Wolfed down a turkey sandwich
 1pm: I finally give in and we go out to play. Brody has to sit by the mat and wait for the ok to run away.
My basil is thriving along with a lone weed on my thyme side. I think I need to re-seed.
Of course our baby grill is still out from last night.
Too tired to play?
2:30pm: Coffee with a friend
4pm: grocery shopping
6pm: Will it actually rain? (Answer: not really.)
6:15pm: Sudoku time
...while I check the mail! I won Kelly Goree's 500th + 5 year post giveaway last week and I received my loot today. I was so very excited. I unloaded it in the kitchen and kept exclaiming variations of "ohmygosh!" and finally Tyson wandered in to see what was going on. There's even some really cute school stuff along with buttons, brads, stickers, paper, rub-ons, and so much other amazingly cute stuff. I was blown away by her generosity.
6:30pm: baked potato night! I go meatless, but Tyson likes protein. He chose leftover kalua pork.
Delish.

Menu Planning Monday

Happy Monday! Taking a quick study break to share what we've got cooking this week:

monday :: baked potato night
tuesday :: blackened tilapia with zucchini and couscous
wednesday :: grilled cheese panini with spinach and bacon
we're also making snack for small group :: favorite salsa + chips + gooey cake bars
thursday :: homemade pizza
friday :: kalua pig in a slow cooker with rice

Are you on pinterest? I had resisted so long until my friend Joanna emailed me an invite last week. It's way more fun than I initially thought! You can find my boards here! Well I should probably get back to it...I've got flashcards and papers everywhere that need reorganizing before I hit the books again!

Weekend in Photos

I love weekends. We tend to go out of town often, so I relish staying home and having a low-key couple of days. We watched HP 7a on Friday night in anticipation of the new movie, which we saw Saturday morning at Studio Movie Grill. Loved it. Tyson finished the book about four minutes before the movie started, so he was a tad more critical of the deviations in plot than the rest of us. :o) I also had a Suits marathon, which is quickly becoming a favorite show.

Other than that, we just grilled, made some delicious sangria, and relaxed. Totally love the quiet weekends. Probably won't be posting much this week, as I'm studying for a test I've got coming up soon.

Menu Planning Tuesday

Well, it's not Monday, but I'm going to go ahead and post our menu planning for the week. I've fallen off the blogging wagon with our lack of internet, and maybe this will give me the boost I need to start again. :o)

monday :: baked potato night
tuesday :: honey mustard pork chops, garlic red mashed potatoes, and sauteed zucchini
wednesday :: leftovers before small group (my mom's chicken spaghetti, woo hoo!)
thursday :: spaghetti with meat sauce + steamed broccoli or leftovers again
friday :: pioneer woman's pollo asada with tortillas and fixin's

Well I'm still trying to locate some of our cleaning supplies from the move, so I better hop to it!

Summer Lovin'

Loving the fun things of summer, when I'm not unpacking, organizing, calling AT&T...aka the work part of not having a job all year. :o) Hopefully I get everything set up in the next few days because our new place has much better light and I'm ready to take some pictures!
