Project Life 2013, Week 8

Pretty mellow week. Not a lot of pictures due to illness and laziness. I really enjoy using random quotes, as I think we will like looking back on them in the future. At least that's my idea right now.

Menu Planning Monday

I enjoy relaxing weekends. After being sick for half of last week, I loved chilling in pajama pants for the weekend. I watched Blackboard Wars on Saturday night--pretty awesome to see the need for education reform on tv. After raving about it, Tyson wanted to see it on Sunday (he fell asleep on the couch Saturday night), so I re-watched an episode with him. I think he enjoyed it more than I did! It gives outsiders a view of education for sure. And then saw that there was a shooting outside the school this past week. So very sad.

Menu Planning Monday
sunday :: yesterday we had teriyaki-marinated skirt steak...mmm
monday :: braised roast (no recipe, we are improving and using several ideas from different sources...scary, yet fun.), mashed potatoes, and broccoli
tuesday :: caribbean chicken salad (recipe inspired from here)
wednesday :: quesadillas with leftover miscellaneous meat :)
thursday :: creamy garlic pasta with steamed veggies
friday :: I want to make skillet lasagna but I am told we will probably not be home :(

Random Photo Wednesday

Project Life 2013, Week 7

Still loving me some Project Life. I even had enough for two pages this week!

Both pages together. So much pink and hearts and love!

Left side. Funny story about those balloons...I saw a pin on Pinterest where someone hung balloons from the ceiling around a dining room table. I thought it would be so cute for our Valentine's dinner. So I got my trusty step ladder to put some up and soon realized that we have kind of high ceilings for that particular task. So I hung them from our archway instead.

Second half of the week. Mostly food and dogs. Loves it! [Supplies used: seafoam digital kit, on trend digital kit, ac digitals love project life freebie, love brushes]

Happy Presidents Day.

Today my students are enjoying an additional day of weekend glory while teachers learn new pedagogical practices. Luckily, I had a pretty excellent weekend and got three days worth of fun packed into two. :o) Tyson, Brody, Sophie, and I hit up Cypress to celebrate my dad's birthday. There was way too much delicious food involved.

I love my sister.

Because of our awesome weekend, we are eating (a lot of) leftovers this week. I am breaking out some chicken taquitos for a shower next weekend and maybe something sweet for small group snack on Wednesday.

Gettin' crafty :: Dr. TyTy

Last weekend, while Tyson was frolicking at the ranch, I had some crafty time with my friend Ashli. I had been procrastinating making a page celebrating Tyson's doctoral graduation because I seriously love this photo of him and his dad and was worried I might not love the end result as much. I think I like it though. [I used my favorite wood veneer little person guy, Studio Calico yearbook, and a little Basic Grey oxford.] Yay!

Pep Talked

Loving this video. I showed it to my classes, and they kind of loved it too.

Random Photo Wednesday

Last night we celebrated an early Valentine's Day! We splurged on prime steaks from Whole Foods, lobster tails, broiled asparagus, and a chocolate bundt cake. Pretty much amazing.

Project Life 2013, Week 6

Switching it up on the style this week. It was perfect for the smaller (phone) and more vertical photos I had to use.

And together with week 5. It kind of bothers me that I have the same shoes represented twice on these pages...but when I wear them, it rains. And it's been a rainy/overcast week or two. So I guess it fits.

Menu Planning Monday

Aww.

Last week, we ate hamburgers for dinner almost every night. None of them were eaten from our Super Bowl shindig. I mean, not that I can blame anyone--we had ribs! As a result, this week is using up the proteins purchased for those meals.

monday :: bbq meatballs (pioneer woman)
tuesday :: grilling steaks for early Valentine's day
wednesday :: leftovers, plus I'm making jalapeƱo dip for small group
thursday :: beef and broccoli
friday :: pasta
saturday :: I think I'm going to try to make salted caramel chocolate cupcakes for my dad's birthday. We shall see.

I need some new healthy recipes! Any good ones out there?

This and that.

Last week was the slowest, most awful week ever. This week, it zoomed by, and I almost loved every minute. I am about to say something cheesy...I am so, so grateful for my many blessings.

This video is going around and it definitely resonated with me:

It was also pretty timely because I got to show it to my students since we are in the middle of a project where they are creating a PSA.

Project Life 2013, Week 5

Another one pager. I didn't really feel like going back and writing much about the week because it was long and annoying. Thus the "I'm over it" from daily dishonesty (so funny). My goal next week is more journaling and words!

Menu Planning Monday

After grilling ribs and burgers for the Super Bowl, I wanted a week of low-cost dinners to make up for our large grocery bill! We only had to buy the proteins and a bottle of soy sauce because we had run out. Pretty good, I'd say.

monday :: ravioli with alfredo sauce and grilled chicken
tuesday :: pioneer woman's bbq meatballs with wild rice
wednesday :: leftovers before small group
thursday :: pioneer woman's beef with snow peas (substituting broccoli)
friday :: pasta for Tyson/leftovers for me

Tyson's thinking about going to the ranch this weekend, so I'll probably be eating baked potatoes or quesadillas or other meatless items while he's gone. I am super low-key when he isn't here emphasizing the importance of protein.
