Well I have survived the first week back to school...somewhat. Because of MLK day I didn't have my Monday class, which reminds me that I still need to google his contributions to organizations. Hmm... So really it's only been a three day week since I don't have anything on Fridays. Hopefully this week will help me acclimate back to actually being productive again.
Wedding planning is going much better. My policy is not to talk about it unless someone asks, but I'm not positive I stick to it all the time. Hopefully so, because people who only talk about wedding stuff are really annoying. I get to go home tonight for a home cooked meal because I'm meeting with a florist tomorrow. Is it bad that I'm more excited about dinner than the flowers? It's true.
Tyson has taken an additional role in our relationship: he is now my personal trainer. I only know what television tells me of personal trainers (HIMYM anyone?) so I thought he was going to be mean to me. Especially when he asked if I was going to get mad at him. But it's not that bad so far. Like if he tells me to do 20 pushups I say that I could never do that many consecutively and that I'll do 12 with my knees on the floor (it's legit, Jackie Warner says I can on my workout dvd) and he says ok--after he sees how bad I really am. Of course, he might be psyching me out and tells me to do more than he was really planning, knowing I'll want to do less. Oh, he's smart. I totally think he's doing that.
Oh, I forgot to mention...the ep5k went pretty ok. I did not back out, but my time was pretty terrible. It occurred to me about 5 minutes before the "fun run" started that I had only done 3 miles on the elliptical, but not actually running on real road. But I survived. And I got a medal. Tyson did really well at the half marathon, and beat his time from last year. I think he finished at 1:48...he is crazy awesome.
I haven't been shopping for craft supplies in over a month. Pretty impressive, right?

Update
Last week of Christmas break. I'm trying to savor my last 7 days of freedom. Today I savored freedom by observing Brody's reaction when peanut butter is stuck to the roof of his mouth. He retaliated by coming over to me and breathing hot peanut breath on me.
The vacation has been glorious though. I have been catching up on Big Bang theory, drinking lots of passion tea, not making my bed, attending sporting events, wedding planning, trying to enjoy the cold weather (flannel sheets are helping), eating Chinese food, and debating whether Tyson and I should purchase a Windows or Mac desktop computer when we get married.
In other news, my efforts to simplify my life this year have gone pretty well. The day after I last blogged I saw a "Real Simple" cookbook that I now regret not purchasing. Perhaps I will go back soon for it. I'm looking forward to getting back to College Station so I can start cleaning out my apartment and getting rid of excess stuff.
That's really all I know for now. I am pretty excited because I thought the Houston 5K closed the finish line after 45 minutes, but I recently discovered it stays open for an hour and a half. I had been trying to get myself used to running straight through so I'm kind of relieved to have the extra time. I have terrible follow through so hopefully I stick with it and do not quit.

Twenty ten.
Wow, another year has come and gone. The holidays have been blissful so far--lots of time spent with family, quiet time, catching up on sleep, and traveling to see friends. There's only two weeks left of vacation for me, so I guess today marks the halfway point in the break. It's flown by, but I am sure the next two weeks will go by even more quickly.
2010 is going to be a big year for me. This time next year I'll be married to Ty Ty, a masters graduate, hopefully employed, and have my own place--renting I'm sure, but a change nonetheless. And of course nothing ever goes as expected so who knows what kind of changes could occur along the way. I'm nervous but excited for all of the changes this year will hold.
I've been brainstorming my one little word for the year and have chosen the word simplicity for 2010.
Simplicity is freedom from complexity, intricacy, or division into parts; make plainer or easier.
Several aspects of my life could use some simplifying. I would like to be able to live with less stuff (which would be great for all of the moving around I will be doing later this year) and keep less clutter in my home. I would also like to explore a less complex type of cooking-- maybe some healthier and childhood favorites. So many times I make tasks harder than they need to be, and I would like to cut that out for less stress! Of course, cutting out the drama of life is also a goal but Dad says drama follows me around so I'm not sure how simplifying that would look. Hmm...
I'm still thinking about actions I can take to put this word into effect. I will possibly get back to that later.
I wanted to do a 365-photo-a-day project this year, but I've already blown that. My cameras are in College Station and I won't be reunited with them until Friday. Maybe I will settle on using my phone's camera until then. :o) Happy New Year!
