"this is an S.O.S." -the jonas brothers, and the occupants of gilligan's island

It’s hard to believe I haven’t updated in almost a month…I’ve been super busy though. Between working, writing papers, creating enthralling flash documents, watching Veronica Mars and more recently the o.c., cricuting, getting an obscene amount of paper cuts, and my word of the day quest, I have not really found a spare moment to write. Sidenote: Thanks Target for having a sale on the o.c. dvds, as I was forced to spend $12.98 a season plus tax. Stupid addiction to tv shows.

Right now I am taking a break from writing a paper on managing employees to better health. I was getting a little worried about one of my scholarly sources, when it began an article talking about a mid-size paper company in Scranton who offered three days vacation to the branch who could lose the most weight…and then it revealed that they were talking about an NBC comedy. I was feeling the oddest sense of déjà vu while reading it… ;o)

In other news, I am super excited about the impending holiday season! It is a little closer than usual, as I do not have any finals. My last item will be a virtual presentation on the evening of December the first, and I could not be more thankful. So after a Fightin’ Texas Aggie basketball game tonight, I will be on my holly jolly way over to Cypress.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

The last couple of weeks have been crazy. At work, I've been sitting at the front desk (today was the last day, hizzah!), which has been interesting. Pam (Beasley--Halpert?!) and I are totally bonding over our share of receptionist craziness.

Right now I'm in an open access lab in wisenbaker, which is an engineering building. Thus, the great majority of people in here are...engineers. I'm not really sure I like it, because I get many a weird look from these people. I think some of them are trying to figure out if I'm an engineer student too (ha!) or a poser. But oh well.
This is pretty much the lamest post ever but we are leaving now in pursuit of Zachry. Which reminds me of Zachry Snackry.

"please don't stop the music"

Today was a really nice and relaxing day. I don't have too many of those, so it's nice to cherish them when they come along! Tyson picked me up and took me to campus this morning, so I didn't have to ride the bus. :o) When I got to work, there was a golden stapler on my desk, but I didn't know what it was. So I asked Janie when she came in, and she told me that Kevin made them for everyone in the office! Then I noticed that it was on a little stand and it said "2008 BIZZY." Like the Dundies. But Bizzies for the Business Office. Pretty much made my day! So I brought it home and put it on my desk. Work went by really fast too; I was moving files and kept busy, which was really nice. Then I finished a project on campus and turned it in. When I got to the bus to go home, it was full--so I was going to have to wait for the next one. But the people in front squeezed together so I could fit. It was a nice feeling. When I got home, I just relaxed all afternoon. Super great.

I've decided I really do not wish to be an engineer. Not that I ever wanted to be, but it just seems really crazy. I've watched Tyson get frustrated with his homework all night and it looks intense. I feel really bad because he scrunches up his face and makes mean faces at his computer, but it's really cute. I don't want to laugh out loud, but some of the faces are pretty funny. But I try not to actually laugh though, because he's super sad and frustrated.

That's sadly pretty much it. I'm getting excited about the holidays though. :o)

Tyson, Sooner, and me at the OU/Baylor game last weekend. When they were still #1...

"that you could have peace, like you've never known..."

So this week went by super duper fast. I always consider Thursday the last day of the week, since I don't work on Fridays :o). On Monday, everyone in the office (except the student workers and myself) had a Staff Development Retreat. I really wasn't jealous, except for the fact that they got a rib-eye steak and baked potato for lunch. I know this because they sent a total of four emails listing the lunch menu over the past month.

Tonight was our last night of dance lessons, and it was definitely my favorite. We got to dance around a little, and then we learned the waltz. It was a little strange because apparently Tyson looooves the waltz and I was not as great at it as he was. Oh well. Then we learned a spin, another cool move, and then the Wranglers performed Jitterbug for us. It was pretty much awesome.

So on Tuesday I was walking to work from the parking lot, and I was praying about my week and I asked God to give me a sense of urgency to finish my three papers that I had not yet finished. I was beginning to stress myself out, because I could not get motivated to finish the first and start the other two. Fast forward a few hours, when I check my eLearning mail, and discover an announcement from my prof that since power is back in Houston, all deadlines are reinstated according to the syllabus (these papers were all due September 30th, but because of Ike, he moved everything to December). My first reaction was, "I hope I don't have to q-drop this class," but my second was definitely mild fascination with God. I mean, really. That was definitely the most effective way to get me to work on them though. God must have been like, ok Hailey, you asked for it! Luckily I have the most amazing and kind boss ever (who also had jury duty the next day), because she let me not come in on Wednesday. So I stayed home and finished everything at 11:52pm Wednesday night. It also motivated everyone in my group to get their work finished, because we are now caught up on everything!

Well, I must depart now. Have a happy weekend for me, since I have class tomorrow 9am-6pm! :o)

i miss my external hard drive :o(

Tyson is trying to convince me that I have webbed toes, which I most certainly do not.

It's crazy how quickly time seems to be going these days. It's already October! Soon we'll be in cooler weather :o) yay! Work is going pretty well, I'm staying busy and time passes pretty quickly there now. I think some new people will be coming in soon, so change is around the corner, which might not be too bad necessarily.

Classes are definitely keeping me busy...well one in particular. I probably should be working on homework, but oh well. It can wait a few minutes. I think the work of one of my classes is more than my other two put together. Probably, because I feel it's the only thing I ever work on. Yay flash projects.

That's really all that's going on in my life. I'm going to the Baylor/OU game in Waco tomorrow and I am looking forward to seeing us not lose for a change. That will happen later tomorrow evening. Maybe an upset will occur. Herman and I are still doing well. The Chevrolet people sent me a sad letter about a recall on him, but he went to the doctor/dealership and he told me that he feels much better now. I think that's all for now...

"crash into me..."

I'm sitting at the front desk at work today. Because The Office comes back today, I am honoring it by pretending to be Pam. Definitely not as great of a receptionist as she is, but I heard that she's in art school anyways for awhile. Last Thursday I sat as the front desker because 6 people were out with sickness, and I got sick over the weekend. Thank you so much. It's been kind of strange. I've gone through multiple stages including coughing, nausea, sinus pressure, head swelling, loss of balance (probably looked drunk trying to walk to work today--luckily I took the bus so I didn't endanger anyone on the road), vision impairments, and insomnia. I might have made up the last one because I thought it sounded cool though.

Tyson and I are taking Aggie Wrangler dance lessons and have another one tonight. Last week was our first lesson and it was pretty interesting. It was supposed to be on campus, so we got there 15 minutes early like we were told to do...only to find that it had been moved to Harry's. Awesome. Luckily Ty knew some crazy fast shortcuts and we bypassed the 5:00 traffic and arrived exactly on time! We learned the polka, as well as quarter and half turns in both directions. It was nice because we definitely got to laugh at ourselves (and each other) a lot.

Well the real receptionist actually came back so I am going to find something to do. Have a great day! :o)

"i've got a lovely bunch of coconuts...deedely dee"

I am sitting in the annex, super procrastinating writing papers...which is bad, because I've pretty much done that all week. I have three five page papers, and I've researched one. Practically ready to start writing. Almost. The problem is, they were supposed to be due the 30th, but because of the power outages in Houston, our prof suspended all deadlines until the end of the semester. The ultimate problem with that is that he said it was temporary, which means that I guess he could reassign them whenever. Yikes. Oh, and I've got a presentation tomorrow.

Well I think that was the sufficient push to get me to work...I'm (only a little) stressed.

"if you haven't evacuated yet and you're in galveston, FORGET ABOUT IT."

Well today has been a super busy day of hunkering down. A&M was closed (except for "essential personnel") today, which is only a little sad since I have neither class nor work on Fridays. I have been super not productive, instead watching Jim Cantore on the Weather Channel pretty much all day. I actually just stalked him online and found his (almost) life story. It was fascinating. I did make everyone watch "The Day After Tomorrow" and Tyson did say later that it made Ike seem less intense. Mission accomplished.

I am so very tired but I do not want to miss the 50 mph winds that will come in a few hours! Also, we managed to find D batteries this afternoon and I would really like the chance to use them. Is that bad? Probably. Well I am off to find some medicine because I am crazy congested.

"you're scared to know i'm always on your mind."

Last week’s small taste of the end of September weather was so wonderful. A high of 95 degrees is so much more pleasant than 102. Alas, real-beginning-of-September weather is back, and is continuing to bring hurricane threats with it.

I wish I could watch all the seasons of Alias, Veronica Mars, 24, and Arrested Development. But I have school. Blech. Christmas break = watching tv shows on dvd + cricut + me.

Tuesdays are super busy for me, even though nothing is really going on at work today. I work from 8:30-1:30, pick up kids and baby-sit from 2:45-4:30ish, and now I have Bible Study at 6 in legit College Station. Plus I think we’re going to Breakaway afterwards. I got an email today that last week they had to turn away hundreds of people from the 9pm Breakaway because they’re in Rudder. I think it’s pretty crazy that Reed is a “disaster site” or whatever it’s called.

Other than that, I really am just trying to stay caught up with school. Which I need to do a lot of tonight. Also, it’s Taco Tuesday but I don’t think I can go. :o(

"look into your heart and you'll find love love love love"

So just a few hours ago I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed. I knew grad school would be a challenge, but I had no idea that one of my classes would include website design. It's still add/drop so I thought about dropping it, but after talking and praying with Tyson and looking at the first unit, I think I'm going to stay in it. It will be a lot of work, but I think worth it in the end to have the skill. Plus Tyson knows someone who can help me, which makes me feel a lot better.

Work has been super busy. Lots of student workers and grad assistants coming in to do paperwork. It's crazy, but I am strangely having fun. Maybe not fun, but definitely not hating it at all.

Other than that, I'm just having fun with my new car and reading and crafting...oh yeah, I named my car Phelps Water Cube Kennedy! Because I got him in the middle of the Olympics and it rained a lot that day. :o)

"but you have to follow through."

Hello hello hello! I am a little sad right now because I just watched the closing ceremony of the Olympics and I do not really know what to do with myself. For the past two weeks I have had some form of Olympics (towards the end I got pretty desperate, even watching table tennis...) while I do things. Like crafting. This weekend I made a super cute welcome sign that my mom wishes me to replicate for her. Hopefully I do not disappoint.

Classes officially start tomorrow and it's a little weird for me. I have two online classes and a class that meets once every three weeks on Saturdays from 9am-6pm. I'm a little nervous. But I got an email tonight that online courses won't be available until 11pm so I can not feel guilty for neglecting to start studying and getting ready for class.

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

"the best thing about him is his calm demeanor."

I am a little obsessed with the Olympics. I remember sitting in my room with my friend Ally when I was 7 years old watching figure skating and crying because we were so sad Oksana got the gold over Nancy Kerrigan. But anyways, the faithgirlzzz are avid watchers this Olympic season. Our favorite event is making fun of the horrible commentators--who says "little boy on pommel horse?"

In other news, cricut and I are becoming besties again. It is amazing and he has helped me make some great cards to which the recipients say "yay!" to.

Sleep is something that has steadily decreased. No bueno. I blame...daylight savings time. Or my inability to be disciplined.

Joanna and I are going to start a new tv channel and Michael Phelps will be on all the time but not lameness like on the Olympic coverage. We will also have not lame commercials.

That is all. Tyson returns to College Station and I am very excited!!

"all i care about is you and your baby...and maybe the cymbals."

Long time, no blog! Haha that was lame. But really, I've been a bit neglectful of it. So sad. I want to go to the movie theater and view a film. With yummy movie popcorn.

We are still celebrating Lauren's birthday that was Friday. It started last Thursday and I [think] concluded tonight. Maybe. Currently we are watching a pathetic dating show on Bravo with a girl from the Real Housewives of Orange County. We laugh because it all takes place at her ex-fiance's house. Weeeeird.

The summer show to watch for our crew has been The Secret Life of the American Teenager, aka the Pregnancy Show. It's great for the bad acting, insane plot twists [that we see coming a week in advance], and shadiness. Alas, I love it.

This summer has gone by so fast! It's weird that it's almost time for classes to start back up again. I'm a little nervous about grad school, but super excited. Well it is definitely time for bed...zzzzzzzzz

Baked Potato Mondays are my favorite!

So I have been working at my job on campus for three weeks and a day and my current obsession is Pandora Radio. And naps. But not the latter during work. But anyways, it makes me feel semi-cool because it's like I have my own radio station of music I like. And I can say "thumbs down" and it will skip a bad song and ban it from my station. So fun.

I've been reading lots of different (children's/young adult/but really children's) books this summer. I am currently on the sixth book in the Chronicles of Narnia series, The Silver Chair. It's pretty good so far, but I only started last night.

Now that I am a college graduate, I feel all this additional pressure to use excellent grammar. This is only magnified by the fact that my degree is for educating young minds about English and Social Studies. So silly. Where is all this going? No idea. Except maybe I consider this an excuse for me talking slower.

I used to be an anti-Rachael Ray person (mainly because she's always on tv, being obnoxious and talking to her audience like they are children who haven't taken their ADD medicine) but in my Food Network afternoon marathon, I decided I enjoy her cooking. Not that she cares, but anyways.

Well I would really like a nap so I think I will indulge.

all you need is love...and a shiny aggie ring

So I'm still enjoying being a graduate (no school or GPR to worry about) but I am constantly getting the, "what are you doing now?" I think I have a mini-speech memorized that I say every time. Here it goes....

Inquiring person: "Congratulations! What are your plans now?"

Me: "Thank you...well I am working part-time on campus at A&M right now and will
start grad school in the fall."

Inquisitor: "That sounds <>! Where
are you working?"

Me: "The business office in the College of Architecture. It's been a
really great learning experience so far."

And then I try to run away. But anyways. I have been [attempting] to keep myself busy cleaning and organizing, cricuting, reading Alex Rider books, and trying to get a tan. I would also include working out but I would definitely not win Miss Consistent in a pageant. A workout pageant?

I have a bubble bath calling my name so I had better hang out with it!

that silly boy is the love of my life :o)

blinky mcblinkerson

I graduated college one week ago. Creepy. I'm an adult.

In other news, JoJo and Joseph and I are watching J.O. and making fun of his blinking and crazy talking. Who is he? I have nooo idea. Joanna thinks he's the antichrist.

I start my new job tomorrow. I'm nervous. And I need to go to sleep soon.

"i was thinking bob marley!"

So apparently it's not cool to have a xanga anymore, so I have resorted back to yonder blogger. Tally ho, blogging adventures!

So in watching a little American Idol tonight, I have made a few decisions. One is that the producers must be telling the judges who to bash on, at least somewhat. I say this because David Archuletta was boring. And they just gushed about how amazing he was. I mean, really? No. Bad. Snoozefest.

I like watching comedians' faces when they're waiting for applause and laughter to finish. It's like smugness because they pulled off the joke mixed with awkwardness because they have to wait.

Graduation = 4 days. Crazy.
