Iris likes to say hello. I was able to visit her + my mom on Monday. :)

I love three-day weekends. The last day always zooms by though! No matter if it's a Friday or Monday off, the third day seems nonexistent by about 5pm. At least I was actually productive and not sitting on the couch watching a Criminal Minds or CSI: Miami marathon...

Last night I made lobster ravioli with a tomato cream sauce (there was steamed broccoli too, but it was a backup dancer, not the main event). Y'all. So good. We made happy plates. I cooked up the ravioli (thank you, Trader Joe's!) and made the sauce from this fabulous recipe. I will definitely be making this again, but halving (or quartering?) the sauce.

Tyson got the tomahawk at my birthday dinner this weekend. It was so very large and in charge...bigger than his face. Unreal.

This Friday, we are celebrating Sophie's second birthday! It's actually her one year adoption anniversary, but we are counting it as both. I can't believe she's only been with us for a year...the time has flown by and we just love her so. My favorite is when we lay down on the couch after dinner. She ferociously jumps on Tyson's stomach and nestles a little nook for herself. Just precious.

This week I have read Legend (dystopian fiction) and Out of the Easy (historical fiction). Both were quite good. I also brought home some teacher-y books to peruse and I've wanted to read Mindy Kaling's book for a while now. I've also been putting off reading the last Alex Rider book because I don't want the series to be over. And I need to read Prodigy now (sequel to Legend). Also on the list: The Fault in Our Stars, The Archived, and I'm still waiting for Allegiant to be released in October. I read a lot in the summer.

This week has been full. In a good way. I've been walking the dogs more (thanks, Cesar Millan), enjoying Brain Quest trivia, and enjoying/counting down the last days with my students (19 days and counting).

The bakery around the corner from us has a cupcake of the month and March is mint chocolate chip. Let's just say I'm pretty bummed I only have 10 days to enjoy the awesomeness.

I am still looking for macarons somewhere around here though...

Last night we celebrated an early Valentine's Day! We splurged on prime steaks from Whole Foods, lobster tails, broiled asparagus, and a chocolate bundt cake. Pretty much amazing.
