Such a pretty day, and I'm stuck inside...

It's officially summertime for me because as of 12:59pm this afternoon I turned in my last assignment! It was actually really sweet, because it happened to be a project worth half of my overall grade and it was very ambiguous. The assignment was to demonstrate your understanding of training and development by teaching yourself to do something over the course of the semester. My natural inclination was to freak out (I love guidelines and a rubric to make sure I'm tracking), but I really enjoyed the assignment and getting to express my creativity. Plus it was way better than the 15 page paper I had to write or pretty much any other assignment ever. I learned Photoshop (something I've always wanted to learn) and made a slide show of my different creations. My professor emailed me back to say he received it, and then again 5 minutes later to say that he loved my project!! My love language is words of affirmation, so that totally made my day. I also just looked at my grade (he already graded it, wow!) and I got an A. Honestly, I was more excited about his feedback than my grade. Is that a sign of maturity?

It's really weird to think that I'm going to be graduating and out in the real world this time next year. I move out of my apartment that I've lived in for 4 years on Saturday, so I've been packing up my belongings. Pretty sad. This week I'm working 40 hours, which is interesting only because it's still the slow part of the year. So I feel awful, but honestly I haven't done too much today. Especially for a Monday, which is usually my busiest day. I should find a project or something for the rest of the week.

That's all for now. I'm really looking forward to dogsitting, Hawaii, and moving in to my new place! But also trying not to wish my lazy days away, because I'm pretty sure it's only going to get crazier.

I wish I could be friends with Hello Kitty...

Halfway through the weekend :o( But I'm almost done with the semester!! :o) It's actually bittersweet: on one hand, I'll finally be done with this extremely difficult semester, but on the other hand, I'll be moving out of my apartment from two amazing young ladies...makes me sad. And one of them is moving away from me, and the other will be moving at the end of the summer. :o(

This week has been abnormal for me. I worked 7 hour days Monday and Tuesday, and did not work the rest of the week, in the hopes of getting all of my assignments done. I haven't finished everything, but am pretty happy with what I have so far. Tomorrow will be a busy day.

I love twitter. It is infinitely cooler than facebook. That's all.

I just took a typing test to see if I've gotten slower since my 8th grade keyboarding class. I haven't! It was pretty sweet.

Today was a really great day...my parents came to up to College Station to bring me some boxes and such. We ended up picking out my furniture and it was super fun! My parents are so, so sweet. We ended up getting a couch:and ottoman (not the chair, it would not fit in my apartment!):

and a dinette set (the style name is Hayley, how random!):

Then we went to Carinos, where I had the most delish strawberry lemonade I do believe I've ever consumed. Yummy. We came back to my apartment and packed up a good bit of my belongings, which made me pretty sad. I have nothing on the walls, except for some nails that my mom said I could take out myself ;o) That's all for now, I'll leave you with my fave picture of Brody Bear!

I actually got my homework done during the daytime this week! Yay! It has been thundery and rainy all day though, so there wasn't too much I could have done other than lounge and be productive. Tyson's old outfit is supposed to have a BBQ for parents' weekend tonight, but I really don't want to get out in this weather! I am hoping he decides it is unsafe to travel :o) Although I still want to go see 17 Again tonight...

Life has been good. I'm trying to not freak out about the amount of work I have before the end of the semester, and stick to my to do list. I rearranged my work schedule so I'm working longer hours Monday and Tuesday and taking the rest of the week off. Hopefully that helps me stay on track. I have this "Presentation of Self" project tomorrow...I had been freaking out because the instructions were super ambiguous, but I think I finally got a handle on the project. We had to pick a song that describes us (she wanted us to sing! haha no way!) and then talk about stuff...anyways, I picked "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus because I really like it...and it's sweet. That's all.

Ok well I am going to go make a card and work out...Class all day tomorrow :o(

It's been too long!

I am so bad at this updating thing. I would blame being busy, but I don't think it's an extremely valid excuse. This weekend has been amazing thus far--just relaxing with my favorite puppy, Tyson, and parents, eating and drinking yummy things, watching movies, reading, and sleeping.

I bought Confessions of a Shopaholic a few weeks ago while I went to Barnes and Noble with JoJo in an effort to finish off a gift card I'd had too long. It was on one of those tables at the front with the title "Popular Reads" or "Books that are Now Movies" or something like that. I saw the movie (twice) and loved it, and figured I would like the book too...but it took me a long time to get interested in (it's a very different premise from the movie). I finally got into the story on Thursday, and finished it that night. It was really cute and endearing...I joined a goodreads.com and I think the reviews are varied, but I loved it. Laugh out loud funny. I highly recommend it, and the second book is even better (I love it when that happens!).

In other news, school is crazy right now. I should really be working on a case study, but oh well. Tyson has a 20 page paper due on Monday, and I can see him sweeping mines in the kitchen on his laptop. ;o) I bought a new Cricut cartridge that I am in love with, but have vowed that I will not use it until May 2nd (all of my assignments are due then). Work is pretty good...I guess. I've worked there about 11 months, which have definitely flown by.

Things I am looking forward to in May: school being out!, Brody's half birthday (2nd), dogsitting (11th), new Mat Kearney cd (19th), moving into my new apartment (21st), and Hawaii (22nd)! Add Image

Tonight, I will maffick.

Life has been so busy. I feel like my life is in the third fast forward of TiVo bloops and I can't find the play button. School is whizzing by, and it is March. When did that happen? May will be here so soon; why does time pass by faster the older you get? As soon as I begin to appreciate and enjoy life, it goes by at an annoyingly fast pace. Boo.

In other news, I really enjoy work. The doors were all re-keyed this week, and my very own key was bestowed upon me. I was overjoyed and so happy, but no one else thought it was that cool. Maybe I am just lame, but I felt not really part of things since I was dependent on others to get in the office. Not anymore!

Spring Break is here in 22 minutes. I will be at home, catching up on homework. I would like to be hopeful and say I'll get ahead, but who am I kidding? My other goal is to make 20 cards. :o)

Oh, and if you're on Twitter, add me! http://twitter.com/hdk91

Tonight I found out that one of my students from last year passed away yesterday afternoon. I am completely shocked and saddened for her family and friends. She was a bright and sweet young lady, and will be missed. I do know that I will see her in heaven one day though, and am so glad for that! It's still hard to process though. Take care of Alexia for us Jesus!

"it's a party in your mouth." --brian malarky, and brobee from yo gabba gabba!

So I'm sitting at home watching American Idol right now...and it's reminding me of last year watching it at WIL group :o) I am definitely missing Val, Hannah, Kara, April, Danielle, Korie, Stephanie, Lindsey, and Natalie! I feel like I am definitely missing one or two ladies, but I don't think anyone actually reads this so I am pretty safe. :o) Although Idol is a little awkward (like when Ryan tried to high-five the visually impaired contestant), I won't lie...I teared up a few times. In the non-awkward parts.

Christmas break seemed to go by slowly, but looking back, it seems like it flew by. Random thought. It's pretty crazy how the weather keeps changing from semi-warm to freezing.

Tyson got a puppy right before Christmas! Brody is 10 weeks old and I love him so much. I think it is requited love, because when I sit on the floor he trots over to me and flops down in my lap. He's already getting (almost) too big to do that though! My parents even let him come to Cypress twice, which is pretty amazing considering the only other dog to come to our house has been Cyril, the 10 year old Grand Champion. The picture isn't that great, but he only sits still for about 2.3 seconds at a time.

But anyways, that's about it. I'm feeling a little pre-school anxiety, but hopefully I can handle the stress better once the semester starts :o)
