One of the best sounds is Brody's smacking lips.

Greetings! Seriously, I am having the best day today. Actually week, but it's only Tuesday so that feels weird to type. It's just a few little things that can turn a good day into a great one! I subbed at a junior high I hadn't been to before, and this afternoon booked 13 days of jobs! Such a blessing. That means 13 less days of waking up at 5am to hunt for a job. I stopped for Starbucks on the way home (love having gift cards!), and my drink was especially delicious. Tyson said he had a super good day at work today too. Happy Hann household!

Meal Planning Monday Tuesday
monday :: baked potato night
tuesday :: Parmesan crusted pork chops, mashed potatoes, sautéed zucchini
wednesday :: leftovers before small group
thursday :: tortellini with meat sauce + salad
friday :: Pioneer Woman's beef stew with beer and paprika

Lately it seems that every time Tyson likes a recipe and asks where I got it, it came from the Pioneer Woman. It helps that she lives on a ranch in Oklahoma (two things Tyson's family holds in high esteem!), and that she cooks rustic, ranch-y food. But she really is amazing. Profound even.

That's really all I know for now. Hopefully I'll have some scrapbook pages to share later this week -- I've got some half days of work coming up and hope to spend the free time crafting! I recorded the Golden Globes to watch while I clean tonight! What fun.

Menu Planning Monday

Happy Monday!

It was especially a nice one for me, because I did not have to wake up at 5am to job hunt! Woo hoo! I was a little sad to say goodbye to the weekend, especially as it was so nice and relaxing. Luckily, we are already planning another low-key weekend, since Tyson didn't get to join in on the fun with all his Dallas driving. I also finished Twilight this afternoon--I am reading them slightly out of order due to library availability. Luckily I already have Eclipse downloaded to my nook. I need to finish our chapter for small group before I start though! We are reading Crazy Love, and even though I'm only a chapter in, it's pretty good!

Menu Planning Monday
monday :: baked potato night
tuesday :: lasagna
wednesday :: leftovers
thursday :: barbacoa for tacos with homemade flour tortillas
friday :: Tyson is making something with ground beef, which I assume will be hamburger-ish
saturday :: date night out!

I'm hungry now!

Computer Woes

Yesterday my laptop crashed. Again. That makes the second time in six months.

Wonderful timing, as I was about to start taking a photo a day to do Project Life, which is a simple way to scrapbook your year. Or whatever you choose. Anyways, for the time being I'm using Tyson's laptop (which he is being super gracious to share!). He even let me download whatever I needed to--isn't he sweet?

Thank you Lord for external hard drives. And Tyson getting me an iPhone for Christmas for when he is on TexAgs. And for libraries offering ebooks that can go on my nook.

That last one had nothing to do with computer woes. Oops.

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011!

I would have thought that I would have had more free time and blog posts during the break, but strangely enough I've felt even more busy. First there was gift purchasing and general Christmas readiness; then family time; followed closely by returning various items and purchasing accessories for our newly acquired gifts; and now it's all about decluttering, organizing, cleaning, and putting Christmas decor away.

We don't really do the whole resolution-thing. Tyson has some fitness goals for the year, and I would personally like to run three 5K's (I participated in two in 2010). While I was visiting my good friend Jo Jo this weekend, her mom read us Beth Moore's blog entry on the new year and how instead of making a laundry list of resolutions that will be broken in no time, we can search for one fundamental thing to change about ourselves. I realize that the way I explained that, it just sounded like a resolution...but trust me, she explained it much better! Anyways, I was thinking, and I would like to work on becoming a better and active listener. More present in life I guess. I just feel like some days I know I have had conversations with people, and for the life of me, I'm not sure exactly what was said. I think because I run into so many new people every day in subbing. So from now on, I'm taking an interest in these people's lives! Who knows, I could form a new friendship, or even help someone's day be a bit brighter.

In related news, I like to follow along with Ali Edward's One Little Word, and for 2011, I have chosen the word deliberate. It kind of goes along with what I said earlier (Last year my word was simplify, which was a much needed re-focus in a time when so much was going on).

Deliberate: adjective 1. carefully weighed or considered; studied; intentional

Menu Planning Monday
monday :: baked potato night
tuesday :: barbecue skillet pork chops with garlic roasted potatoes + salad
wednesday :: beef with broccoli
thursday :: red beans and rice
friday :: tequila-lime chicken with mexican rice + black beans

Right now I can hear Tyson (and Brody, too) snoring, which makes me happy because he has been having trouble sleeping lately. I'd like to think it's due to the Melatonin supplement I got him today, but he might just be tired from his workout today. :)
