"May today's race be the race of your life!"

Tyson ran his second marathon yesterday and beat his previous time by almost 30 minutes! So proud of him. It was cold and rainy, but my parents and I cheered for the runners and rang cowbells. It is seriously inspiring being at a race like that. Kind of like I can accomplish anything. Too bad I am stuck all week administering benchmark tests to kids. At least I will be motivated to hit the gym afterwards? Happy Monday!

Random Photo Wednesday

I found this on my phone whilst cleaning up my picture storage. How can you not smile (or laugh out loud, as I did) seeing this adorable face?!

Project Life, Week 1

 This is a look at the full week, hopefully something what the book will resemble when it's all together.

First half of the week. My little "happy new year" card got angry when I resized the file for the web, which is why it got crazy bold in the weekly spread and then skinny above. Anyways, this side is Monday/Tuesday whilst we rang in the new year in San Antonio. The bottom right photo was resting afterwards. I doubt I stick to color schemes later in the year, but it was kind of fun to coordinate this week.

Second week of vacation, so lots of chilling. I wanted to include the Heisman picture I saved from December because he totally dominated in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Also, I really liked the ad and the Heisman handwriting reminds me of my sister-in-law's (she has the best handwriting--I saved a few of the gift tags from our Christmas presents because it was too cute to trash!). The "marriage is bliss" quote was a mantra repeated over the weekend in jest. :o)

Menu Planning Monday

Sophie cheered on the Aggies from her jail cell on Friday. We had friends over with a new baby and she wasn't as down with that as Brody was.

Tyson has a marathon on Sunday, so he is quite particular about what he consumes. This is what I have planned...we shall see if we stick to it!

sunday :: spicy salmon, green beans, and couscous
monday :: leftovers
tuesday :: honey chipotle turkey meatballs with steamed broccoli and wild rice (i wanted to make hoisin glazed turkey meatballs, but I am not going to the grocery store before tuesday. officially on the "to make" list!)
wednesday :: jalapeƱo chicken with mexican rice and salad
thursday :: pasta
friday :: pasta
saturday :: spaghetti with meat sauce

On another food-related note, I was wanting a cheaper option to jarred pasta sauce to make pizza rolls this weekend and give this recipe a try. I was 6 ounces short on tomato paste but rolled with it anyways. It was totally delicious. It made extra, so I even got to freeze some for future yumminess. I am in awe of how good pizza sauce can be now.

one little word

So I finally found a word for 2013. Previously I have chosen simplify (2010) and deliberate (2011). I guess I was lazy or taking a nap when 2012 came around because I really can't remember what my word might have been.

-----
I'm hoping to come up with monthly goals that can help me more specifically seek to apply this word to my life. But I don't really feel the need to share those online. I can say that I have one professional goal for January, although it's not measurable so I'm unsure how I will define success. I might have to ponder that one...

This past Sunday, we stayed the night in Gruene before venturing on to San Antonio. We got there a little before sunset...which we couldn't see anyways because it was so cloudy and gross. I got this one decent photo from the balcony of our bed and breakfast. It was so gorgeous, even though the weather was terrible. There were deer everywhere and the Guadalupe River was incredibly serene. It was funny talking to the innkeeper the next day about what it's like when the local colleges are on spring break. Ha!

Random Photo(s) Wednesday

This was our view Monday night. We got together with friends in San Antonio. So fun!

And this was my view yesterday. Chillaxing with puppies and football.
